Digital Marketing is more than just Social Media

Digital Marketing is a means to market product, services and brands through digital means. Its been in use since 1990s but in recent years, businesses have started realising the growing need of an online presence and have realised the wonders it can do. Inspite of being this prevalent, almost everyone is under a misconception that Digital Mareketing is all about social media. This article is accutely written to break that myth.

First, lets talk about social media. Whenever we see these two words, the next thing that pops up at the top of our brain is Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Linkedin etc. So yes, Social media basically is a collection of such online communication platforms. Social Media Marketing is marketing your products, services and brands on these platforms. Search engine optimization is an organic way to manipulate this algorithm and bring your web page on page one of the search result.

Affiliate marketing is a type of performance­based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts. The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you dont have to create a product to sell.

3) E­mail marketing

E­mail marketing is directly marketing a commercial message to a group of people using email. It usually involves using email to send ads, request business or solicit sales or donation and is meant to build loyalty, trust and brand awareness.

4) Web analytics

Web analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of web data for purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage. It provides information about the number of visitors to a website and the number of page views. It helps gauge traffic and popularity trends that is useful for market research.

Search engine marketing is the practice of marketing a business using paid advertisements that appears on search engine results page.

6) Conversion rate optimization

Conversion rate optimization is a system for increasing the percentage of visitors to a website that converts into customers.
